3:28 PM When ocean running month was up, I was also celebrating my running comeback, after my knee was killing me the last months!
Now since this wasn't my first comeback, I already had some experience, but I wanted to try something new this time as well. I came back as usual but added a bigger focus on food which would help me to recover faster. Sounds pretty simple, right? That's what I wanted.
So far, #roadtorecovery consisted of a lot of relaxing and aroma therapy - massages, oils, and strength training!
Now I am focusing on food, too! Yes, there is food that helps us that we recover fast or our muscles feel less fatigue!

One superhero which helps us feeling like a god again is beet root. Beet root contains a lot of super benefitial nutrients - unfortunately, I am not really into it...
I continued researching more about food and one food appeared in every single source: beet root....

I have to eat beet root somehow.
I thought about the beet root latte trend that goes around for a little bit now. I love lattes - why shouldn't I want to try this? Maybe it tastes awesome...

I got the ingredients, prepared it and LOVED IT!
During ocean running month, this was a dear company of mine - especially as an iced option after the workout to let my muscles recover in the best manner.

Now that it's still hot and iced coffee is all I am thinking about the last days, I thought I might share my lovely beet root latte recipe with y'all which is perfect also as an iced latte which cools you down when the sweat is driving you nuts.

A refreshing drink during summer or a nice addition to your morning routine - no matter how you prepare it, you will enjoy the best health benefits at the same time.

YOU NEED 1 beet root + 1 Cup almond milk (or any milk of your preference) + 1 tablespoon honey + 1 teaspoon cinnamon (if you don't like cinnamon that much, you can also go with 1/2 teaspoon) + 1/4 teaspoon ginger + 1/2 Cup milk for an extra foam (if you are fancy) + for iced version some extra ice

1. Wash your beet root and remove the skin. Cut it into little chunks and cook it until it's done. (I bought a pre-cooked and skin-less beet root which makes me skip this step - aloha lazy butts ~)
2. When your root is done, nice and soft, transfer it to a blender and add your perfect milk choice.
3. Mix it until the beet root is fully liquid and well blended with the milk before you add the spices.
4. Once you have your pinky milk, add cinnamon, honey, and ginger and blend it one more time. Taste it. Not sweet enough? Not too much cinnamon? Add more if you want to.
5. If you want a hot latte: put the pink milk into a sauce pan and heat it up - stir it here and then (don't heat it too hot - keep it on medium heat!). If you want to go with the iced version: put the pink milk into a glass or cup and add 5-6 ice cubes. You can also put it in the fridge to cool it and enjoy later...
6. If you are fancy, use extra milk to create a nice foam for your latte! I love to sprinkle some more cinnamon on top then...

I know beet root latte doesn't sound crazy sexy, but I have to admit that I really underestimated this power root! I judged too much about it, but now I am finally in love with it!
For my running, this is the perfect post-workout treat, but I also like to spoil myself with a nice beet root latte in the morning, when I want to feel some extra energy kicks!
I hope you enjoy this recipe ~
